Bassett Furniture is a furniture manufacturer and retailer, headquartered in Bassett, Virginia. They offer a modern twist on traditional style furnishings for the home.
02 | Goal/ Objective
In 2019 I was hired by Bassett Furniture as a freelance graphic designer. I support the creative digital department which is responsible for creating digital marketing assets across various platforms. Projects include designing marketing emails that promote new launches, sale events, and exclusive events. The first project I was assigned was to create a Welcome Email that
would be sent to each new customer to kick start their customer journey. The purpose of the Welcome Email is to further engage customers if they 1.) signed up for emails, catalogs or sweepstakes from the website, or 2.) made a purchase from the store or online and the customer provided their email address. In this assignment, I was asked to design 3 prototypes/ mockups. The guidelines for the project were to focus on a mobile-first approach with an end goal of encouraging the customer to engage by giving them numerous CTAs (calls to action). The email also needed to follow the style and web guidelines as well as be on-brand and represent Bassett.
03 | Description of Process:
Part of the assignment included instructions to research competitors of Bassett. Based on the company’s style, I chose to research Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, West Elm, Crate and Barrel and Restoration Hardware. I focused on each of the company’s products and how they used images, typography and colors. I also paid attention to how each engaged and encouraged customers to interact with their products. I submitted four prototypes. The feedback I was given was positive. In particular, two of the mockups were clearly aligned with Bassett’s style and I was asked to merge the mockups together. All in all, I thought the final prototype was modern, engaging and current with trends.
