Eastbots – Team 4795

This was a volunteer project.

01 | Client:
Eastbots (FIRST Robotics Competition Team 4795) is a student-run robotics team from East Chapel Hill High School.  Every year their goal is to build a competition robot from scratch as they utilize science, engineering and technology skills.  The competitions they take part in (3-4 per season) require teams to work together in 3 vs 3 matches with other local teams as they learn to collaborate, cooperate and compete.

During the 2017-18 season, Eastbots had an award-winning season and went

to the North Carolina District Championship at Campbell University and finished the competition ranked 11th. Their ranking qualified them to participate in the spring 2018  National/World Championships in Houston, Texas.

02 | Goal/ Objective:
Before heading to Houston for the World Championships, I redesigned the team’s mascot and logo.  The logo update was then used to create team pins which were worn by team members and mentors and traded with other teams at the championship.

03 | Outcome:
With the redesign, I kept the familiar mascot and team colors but gave the overall design a modern edge.  I wanted to make sure the design would translate well whether it was used for t-shirts, pins, paper or for their Facebook page.  The team was happy with the redesign.
